It was the speech I had prayed for, waited for, so long…one where our Chief Executive said the words, “You, the American People, are the power”.
It was the most comforting of uncomfortable moments to see and hear our President openly and boldly stating the challenges we face from those who, having had power to make things right, made them instead convenient for their privilege and those who fit their narrative.
It’s as if the heaviness of years lifted upon hearing the Missouri University Choir singing to the heavens; the lightness of heart and joy of the moment finally coming to America, and so many in the world, that our wayward stance and faltered beliefs had been successfully challenged, voted upon by its citizens in the majority, and exacted an end point, starting ‘at the top’.
Patriotic song meant something sweet again. Liberty was released into the air by Donald Trump as if it were an anointing. And it was.
Mr. President, your words and admission turned on the great switch – the ones which empower us, the one you were destined to turn on and dedicated to defend.
You are here for us. We are here for you, so very grateful to God and like yourself, already at the work set before us. Thank you for your tenacity, fearlessness, faith and courage; we who have supported you and those who will discover what we see in you will understand why this is your destiny, and ours.
